What's the real cost of registering a trademark in Spain? Less than most people think, which is why it makes no sense to risk not doing it. As of April 2026, the official OEPM (Spanish Patent and Trademark Office) fee for electronic filing is €127.88 for the first Nice class, plus €82.84 for each additional class. If you file on paper instead of online, the cost increases. Before choosing how many classes to protect, it's advisable to consider which activities you plan to grow into in the coming years, not just what you're doing today: expanding classes later is more expensive than including them from the start. To that official fee, if you decide not to handle the process yourself, you'll add the cost of advisory services, monitoring for potential oppositions, and responding if someone opposes. Compared to the cost of changing your name, redoing all your branding, and risking a legal challenge for using a name that already belonged to someone else... that fee is cheap. Did you have a rough idea of this cost, or did you think it was much more expensive?
