I didn't plan to specialize in trademarks

How a one-off task of registering trademarks with the OEPM and EUIPO became one of EMIBA's core areas.
I didn't plan to specialize in trademarks. It happened almost by chance.
In a previous job, it fell to me — without seeking it out — to handle a series of the company's trademark registrations: some with the OEPM (in Spain), others with the EUIPO (at a European Union level).
What was meant to be a one-off task turned into something that captivated me. I started reading more, understanding the nuances between registering in one country or in 27 at once, and defending those trademarks when someone opposed them.
And from there, I didn't budge. I continued specializing, continued managing those cases, until I decided I wanted to do this on my own: today, it's one of EMIBA's core areas.
Sometimes, specialization isn't chosen from the outset. It's discovered by doing the work.
Has something similar happened to you with your profession: that it started as "just something that needed doing" and ended up becoming your hallmark?
